4. Chicago's Riverwalk
North and South Banks of Chicago River

If you’re up for a short stroll off Michigan Avenue, head southeast across the plaza back towards the Chicago River.  Take any set of stairs down to river level and you’ll get a great boats-eye view of the city.  In the summer, tour boats and privately owned craft will be moving up and down the river.  Walk east, past the University of Chicago’s downtown campus and the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers.  Just past the hotel you will come to Centennial Fountain and Arc.  Except in the winter when the fountain is shut-down, the fountain shoots an arc of water across the river every thirty minutes on the hour and half-hour.  Take your time along the river walk.  When you’re done, re-trace your steps back to Michigan Avenue.
